1938 Hawthorne Zep

This bike was the top of the line Hawthorne in 1938 and as the catalog states, there was “not a thing missing”. Advertised as “Supreme beauty – Deluxe equipment” it is easy to see that there was truth in advertising. Special features on this model indlude twin Delta Silver Ray headlights, built in tail light in carrier, three way lock, and a beautifully styled chrome chainguard, and removable battery tray in tank. Other features include rubber cushioned Troxel saddle, Riverside white sidewall tires, New Departure hubs with optional 2spd. This bike was offered in jet black/white trim edged in red, cream/blue trim edged in red. Price in 1938 was $34.95.
