Sears Elgin and J.C. Higgins Bicycles

The Sears Roebuck and Company was responsible for some of the most outrageous and sought after bicycle designs. The Elgin Bluebird, Robin, Blackhawk, Flightlinger and Spaceliner were all Sears exclusives. Sears primarily used the Westfield Mfg. Co. and Murray of Ohio to produce their special bicycles designs. Sears bicycles sold before World War II were branded as Elgin, and after World War II as J.C. Higgins.

Sears Elgin and J.C. Higgins Bicycles — 3 Comments

  1. I have a 1961 jc higgins man’s 3 speed, black and a woman’s 1968 3 speed also black the ladys needs a back rim and the man’s only needs tires and tubes. The man’s is really un super shape but I don’t know if they are worth putting money on them, I was thinking of listing them on e- bay as they are.. no rust, what should I do?

  2. I have a 1949 J.C. Higgins women’s bike, it sat in a barn for 40 years, I lost the seat, aside from that, it’s completely original, everything is on the bike, even original tires, and can be rode today, tank, full rear fairing fender, and front spring, the bike really is in very good condition, some how the seat was missing, must of been taken over the years, anyway, I’m looking to sell the bike, when I say it’s entirely there aside from the seat, it is, and is solid
