1941 Hawthorne Comet ladies bicycle

This 1941 Hawthorne Comet, sold by Montgomery Ward stores, was manufactured by The H.P. Snyder company, makers of Rollfast bicycles. Many Hawthornes were made by the Cleveland Welding Company and looked nearly identical. Some identifying features that pin this one as being the Snyder version are the duck-tail on the front fender and the sprocket style. This bike is a survivor, still wearing it’s original paint, but the tires, grips and seat are later replacements.
